Ocracoke Island, NC

This cemetery contains the graves of four Commonwealth sailors who died when the H.M. Trawler Bedfordshire was torpedoed in May 1942 near Ocracoke Island. The cemetery is maintained on the Commission’s behalf by the US Coast Guard. The bodies were found in the surf off Ocracoke Island and buried with appropriate military honors on Ocracoke.
