Subject: Heated pool
We are staying in Rodanthe the week of September 5. Our house has a private pool but I did not choose to get the pool heat to save an extra 500 dollars. I hope I made the right choice. Subject: things your rental agency does not want...
1.)Did you know that when you pay for an early check in you probably could have gotten in early without it just by showing up. Check the calendar before you come. If the house isn't rented then more than likely you could check in as soon as they open that day. If not when you show up they call housekeeping and urge them to get your house ready right away so they get you out of their hair. Unless the house is huge you usually will get in sooner rather than later.

Subject: Don't pay the sticker price when you rent a home...
Be informed. Rentals are down; owners are facing forclosure and they need your income. The rental agencies usually post a price higher than what they can actually rent for. If they are not willing to negotiate go elsewhere. There is always someone who will. Check out rent by owner sites. Just beware that the rental agencies are using these site too. They were created for you to get a better deal without paying the rental agency but have been filled with rental companies. If you see that they accept credit cards odds are they are a company and not an owner directly. Good luck and remember negotiate. They can lower the price; they just don't want to.
