to stay?
Hi all! I have never been to the Outer Banks
before and we are going to be vacationing
there this year during the third week in
August. We are trying to decide on a house...I
have no idea about the areas..my Mom's friend
recommened Ocracoke, but it looks like there
isn't much beach. Any recommendations? What
is the difference from all the locations,
oceanfront, soundfront, between the roads??
Does it really matter if you are not oceanfront?

beach advice for Ocracoke area
We're coming to to OBX the second week of
August. We're staying on Ocracoke and I'm
interested in having my 11 year old daughter
take a surfing lesson or renting a boogie
board for her. She's a strong swimmer. On
the flip side I have a 6 yr old son who's
ok in the water. Is there a good place to

Was just down to Outerbanks and unfortunatly
did not get to do all that we wanted. We
went to Ocracoke late in the day and everyone
tired and we didn't get to stay long. I
feel we missed the "experience"
of the island. Others gumbled there were
few shops and nothing to see and wouldn't
stay. (Think they expected it to be like
Manteo). Just wondered what other folks
consider the charm of Ocracoke to be? What
are your favorite things to do there? Your
favorite spot? My husband and I want to
spend more time there just ourselves when
we go back and want some direction on where
to go and what to see there. Thanks! Read

can anyone tell me how long the ferry ride
from Ocracoke to Swan Quarter is? I thought
the Hatteras-Ocracoke ferry ride was long,
but on the map it looks like a speck of
dust compared to the Ocracoke-Swan Quarter
