Subject: Trip Report - Thanks for all the pointers.
Recap of our trip, thanks to everyone for all the tips.

We stayed at the Cambridge Cove townhomes in Bermuda Bay. We got a 3 bedroom, 3.5 bathroom and while space was definitely there, I would not rent from them again, especially if the dynamics in the group are the same. What was not mentioned on the particular website was that one of the bedrooms had a bunkbed. That was a major inconvenience to us. Steep stairs leading to each floor did not help them, also, the sitting area had a large picture window but no blinds or window covering. We came back home Sat around 4pm for a brief rest before heading out for dinner, and had to sit around the dining table to avoid the strong glare of the sun coming in. Other minor inconveniences - no garbage bags, only a very small bar of soap provided - we rent condos all the time wherever we go since it is more convenient, and this did not work out too well for us. To their credit though, we have been offered a night free stay for our next visit, which they did not have to do.

Sat, we drove to the Jockey Ridge Park which was beautiful. The weather was so nice, we could see the water on both sides, the kids had a wonderful time running on the sand, and it was around 10am, and was deserted. It was just us, and we loved it. After that we drove up to Hatteras, saw the lighthouses, parked and walked on the beach. We did lunch at Sandbar Grill ( the rockfish sandwich special was amazing). We stopped at a beach area right after Rodanthe, heading back towards Kill Devil, and there were huge shells and the boys had a blast collecting them - they were so beautiful.

Tanger Outlet was ok, I had no idea it was so small, but we did spend an hour browsing through it. We went for dinner to Basnight Lone Cedar - it was SO crowded. We waited for 45 mins, and somehow the food did not overwhelm us. The next day, we stopped at Sugar Shack across from Basnight to buy fresh fish and had lunch there, it was easily the best seafood I ever had. The shrimp, the rockfish and the grouper was so fresh.

The boys loved the aquarium, we loved the bridges, I loved Outer Banks. The plan is to go back next year, and rent a home on the beach and stay there for a week. We did not get to do the northern part, so we must definitely go back then.

Thanks again for all your pointers and we had a wonderful time at the OBX.

just a note... i think the condo's are like the houses, there is usually NO supplies in the house . maybe you find the extra trashbag or roll of paper towels, but YOU SHOULD NOT find any soap, or any other chemicals or cleaners. the cleaning crews take them and for legal and insurance reasons they are not left at rental units. i think sometimes for private rentals the owner will supply some of that stuff, but every year you have to go the store and stock up and just take home what you do not use....

glad you had fun, now just don't tell too many people about OUR secret....

Always thought when you rented one of those places you had to bring your own necessities. We rent a small two bedroom cottage every summer and we bring everything from toilet paper to dish detergent with us!
