there is only a very very small list of places that would not be ideal to take kids to, the higher end places, check out some of the guides, or search through the posts. keep in mind this is a vacation destination, so almost every restraunt caters to families...the only thing that peeves me off is seeing kids playing around/ in the bar areas after 7:30-8(most places have bars in the restraunts)...when i get off work after dealing with lots of people and kids, the last thing i want to be around when trying to unwind is screaming kids running around the bar

Mako Mike's is good, so is Five Guys (free peanuts), Bob's Grill, Goombays (cool decor), and the Jolly Roger (also lots to look at and a gift shop).

Go to Duck Donuts in Kitty Hawk for breakfast and watch them make doughnuts fresh right in front of you. Fun to watch.

I have taken my children to Goombays, Jolly Rogers, Mako Mikes, Mexicali Brewz, Awful Arthurs and never had any problems. We took them to Kellys and Port O Call and they were also well received there. My experience has been that OBX is pretty kid friendly which is cool.

For the sake of their health, please keep them out of Barefoot Bernie's until it goes Smoke-free!

Children that are well mannered are welcomes anywhere. It's the ones that are out of control and the parents don't care that you hate to see.

We have small children too & we're always happy with RV's Sugar Creek. It's on the Nags Head - Manteo causeway. The service is always great, so is the food & it's VERY kid friendly. Plus a great view of the sound.

You and the kids would probably enjoy lunch or dinner at Nags Head Pier. Very authentic, and dinner includes a free stroll on the pier. Best ocean-view restaurant on the beach.

Now now don't be so sarcastic. But... if I may interject. LEAVE the BRATS at home!!! Nothing like your screaming kids to ruin a good meal!

So true! And it's even worst when the parents keep yelling at them to "Stop", but do nothing.Shame on parents that can't or want control their children. What are you teaching them?
