Subject: Duck or Corolla
Looking for a new place to stay this year (May). We have always vacationed in Hatteras/Frisco but would like a change of scenery. Which is a better location, Duck or Corolla? Is one less-crowded than the other? We don't eat out much, so just a good local seafood market and a grocery store is all we need ;)

Corolla! Wider beach, more variety of home sizes to choose from, 2 grocery stores and enough shopping and restaurants to satisfy.

It won't be too crowded in either place in May Why not try Corolla. You can always run down to Duck if you want something not available in Corolla. Very nice time of year to visit.

My vote...Corolla. Corolla is a nice community. In my opinion not as congested as Duck. Though Duck is nice. Anyway, grocery shopping is convenient in Corolla (Food Lion and Harris Teeter) and there are a number of shops and restaraunts located in Tim Buck II Shopping Village. Go to the top of the page. Type in 'Tim Buck II' in the search window. Try both 'web' and 'site'. Should find good info regarding the shops, etc. Just a little north of the Food Lion complex (shops and restaurants as well)is the Corolla Light Village Shops. More shopping and restaurants. You can watch the sunrise on the beach in the morning and the sunsets over the sound in the evening. The Corolla Lighthouse, the Whalehead Club, the natural history museum (history of the Sound) are very nice. Check out NC Bar-b-que just north of the Corolla lighthouse. Rent a Jeep and drive the 4x4 beach. Maybe see some horses. Or book a spot for a paid tour of the four wheel drive area. Don't know what you are into but you can rent jet skis, go parasailing, boogie boarding, fishing, crabbing, volley ball on the beach, bike riding, etc. We like the Dockside Seafood Market in the Food Lion complex for fresh sea food. Below is the Corolla Village website. Provides a brief history, list of restaurants, shops, etc. At the top and bottom of this page you will find "WHAT TO DO", "PLAN YOUR TRIP". Helpful info. Again, Duck is south of Corolla...nice village with shops/restaurants. But Corolla has my vote. Have fun.

I've stayed in Duck before. Two times, and I enjoyed both of them alot!
Corolla is a 5-10 minute drive away depending where you stay in duck. But there are different stores pretty close to you as well.

We have stayed in Corolla three times now. Corolla and Duck are newer homes/developments and less developed than Nags Head, which has older homes for the most part. Depends what you are looking for - you will find more restaurnants and tourist attractions in Nags Head, but, the beaches are much wider up in Corolla. Add 30 mins drive to your trip for Corolla (at least - depending on when you go.)
