Subject: Driving from Charleston, SC to Corolla, OBX 11/22/

Hello,
Does anyone have any suggestions for driving to Corolla from Charleston, SC during the week of 11/22-11/29/09? We did the 9 hour drive (26 West to I-95 North and then back East) last year, but I would like to find a more direct route along the coast if possible.
Thank you in advance for any assistance you can provide.

while 689 is correct, that is the most direct rt. it will take about 3 hours longer, for all the small towns you have to go thru, speed changes, etc.

Correct 690. Google maps shows the I 95 route at 450 miles, 7:41. It shows the other route at 429 miles, 10:45. OP, if it takes you 9 hours on the I 95 route, it'll take you 13 hours on the route through the boonies.
We make it from KH to HHI in 8:15 about 5 times a year.

OP I agree with 691, from NH to my uncle at Sullivans Island with kids 9 hours for me,HHI about 10.5

i drive up from hilton head every year. Best way is definately the 95 to NC 64 route. Trying to go up 17 through wilmington etc just takes too long and every minute in the OBX is too precious to waste
