Pretty much the same as in November or February. You go shop, you go eat, you can walk the beach but you better have a coat near by. I remember 3-4 years ago walking the beach in shorts and a lite jacket. I remember walking with a full winter snow suit sometimes too.

There are a few restaurants closed but closing 10 or 700 is not going to limit you finding someplace to eat.

another good suggestion is to find a place with indoor amenties or a house with ymca privledges. The outdoors can be nice in December, but imagine jumping in a nice indoor pool our suana after a cool walk on the beach

It's lovely. Quiet, no crowds, no waiting in restaurants. There's something about sitting by the fire and watching the ocean at the same time. We play games, watch movies, and pick out our house for our summer vacation.

I would love to do this someday. I know that it's 'cold' but there's no way it's as cold there in december as it is up her in western pa. 40 and windy sometimes feels like a heat wave up here.

Beautiful time of the year. Two questions! The big question is have you ever been here before? If not, you can do some of the historic sites (Wright Brothers, Fort Raleigh etc.) Check out Hatteras and Ocracoke. The other question is are you coming Christmas week or just sometime in December? The reason is that there are some nice pre Christmas activities especially in Manteo. Christmas is on a Friday this year and between then a New years there are quite a few home owners spending time here and so restaurants stay open for this business. Are you an outdoor person. Walking on the beach is very invigorating even surf fishing can be productive if we get a Striped Bass run. Weather is unpredictable. Will it be 40 with a strong Northeast wind or will it be Sunny and 60 degrees? Come on Down!

Hey 649 I've golfed in western Pa. during Christmas week. It is not always cold here. It's not like the OBX is the tropics.

I hope everyone that is lucky enough to spend the holidays or around the holidays on the Outer Banks will do their shopping there as I just read where they really need that. I bought a tee shirt down there last summer and its goes under the tree for my son. Wish I could of done more.

It sounds lovely, but considering the drive and time and money to come, were best off right here by our fireplace, snuggled together and warm with family but Thinking about that lovely beach...
