Well, I don't have anything excited for newlyweds but that's just me. Sorry.

Fight and argue about who does more work at home and spending money, might as well start here for the rest of your marriage.

Drive to Pea Island....park along theroad, and walk over the dunes to the beach....u likley won't see anyone for a mile or more.
Bring a blanket....do what newlyweds do :)
25-30 minute drive from KDH.

If you can, take a plane ride over OBX just the two of you, and the pilot of course and enjoy the beauty from above. Afterwards enjoy a quiet drink together a romantic walk in Manteo. Visit one of the Christmas shops and by you "First Christmas" decoration for the tree. The night I am sure you can figure out.

When we went on Honeymoon, we didn't have any plans... Spontenaity was good....Go somewhere special that will always be there to return year after year throughout your life together. Go up to Jockey's Ridge and see a beautiful sunset there...Amazing, bring your camera..

We do the Christmas ornament thing too. Its a great idea. Every season, my kids pick a new one. Its fun at Christmas, to put our "beach" oranaments on the tree. The kids remember where we got each one, and what we were doing that day.
