Subject: Ceremony on Ferry
Does anyone know if you can have a wedding ceremony on the ferry? Have just family cars, and the ceremony at the front (or back) of the ferry as it crosses at sunset? Thank for any info!

dont knw officially, but i would suspect not... the ferry to Ocracoke is part of the state highway system. There may be one of the private ferries that goes to Cape Lookout that you could rent

Bet you could...call then and ask. Bet they'd consider on a 'low travel' day.

My daughter wants a beach wedding, but want's something different. We thought that since the ferry has been such a big part of our OBX adventures, that it would be neat to get married on one. If they could line up just family for the ride,(we would have enough cars) then we would have someone perform the ceremony during the ride!

We just wanted the ceremony done on the ferry. The reception would be held at the beachfront home we would rent for the week. Sorry if the question was too far out of your league to give an appropriate answer!

just do it with all your family on first.....any added guests would probably enjoy it.

I like to believe that by nature people are generous and giving. Working on that assumption, I would think that if you talked to the right people you could work out an arrangement where they allowed your wedding cars into the priority lane (normally reserved for NC plates) which should get you all on the same ferry. That would be the easiest way to accommodate you...I'm sure it'll take quite a few phone calls though to the right people.
