Does anyone know what became of Meridian 42 restaurant? We went last night and it appeared to be closed, permanently. We used to love that place!

I went to Quiznos for a sandwich and the sign at the door said "Closed Until 11-1-09" It looked closed to me too but time will tell I guess.

First their food was very good. Haven't been there in three years, but I think it was a bad location and their quest to be slightly different hurt them. Wrong market for an Upscale Mediterranean restaurant with small portions. The restaurant name came from the 42nd Meridian of Latitude which I believe is Northern Italy. It was not a place to go with a family, much too expensive. My last time there I had a Lobster Ravioli, approx $20. It was four Medium sized Ravioli which I consumed in about 5 minutes. They started great but I think the clientle they needed was just not the Outer Banks. Too bad

Is 235 that fool from the other Jimmy's post?
How could he be on the Meridian post if he didn't have the 25 to eat at Jimmy's?

Haaaaa! Too funny 278. I thought Jimmy's was like $30 a plate? Wonder how many people think they are eating authentic NC coast seafood on vacation when they eat at Jimmy's. Isn't all of their food from China?

Please don't compare Meridian 42 with Jimmy's Buffet. Talk about apples and oranges! We were fans of Meridian 42 from day one- we dined there on their first night! I'm not knocking Jimmy's, as that restaurant has a place here on the OBX also. Just please don't make this thread about that place!!

One problem with Meridian is the location, it sucks. You can't see it from rt 12 (aka Duck Rd) and you have one way in and out. The shopping ctr has had a dozen businesses go in and out of business in there because the viability is awful. Quiznos is on their 2nd owners and Coastal Provisions is barely alive, everyone other business has gone under and something else has reopened and most of them went under.
Meridian had good food, the sound proofing was the same as Basnights -- it sucked and was so loud you could not talk to the people at your table.
