Subject: Hatteras
or Duck/Corolla?
Planning a vacation to OBX and am trying
to decide between Hatteras, Avon area or
Duck/Corolla, with oceanfront rental in
either location. From what I understand
Duck/Corolla is newer and more residential
and rentals seem to be more costly. Hatteras
area appears to be less populated, and rentals
less costly. I'm trying to determine the
benefits or drawbacks to each area. A couple
of specific questions I have are:
How long is drive to each area once you
get over bridge? Are there enough 'large'
grocery stores;
video rentals and restuarants in each area?
Is the beach area different in either area
or access to beach from the homes (in things
read on Hatteras rental descriptions don't
mention 'private boardwalk to beach')? Any
and all information would be appreciated.

Waves, Salvo Restaurants
Anything new in the rodanthe area as far
as restaurants this year? Lisas Pizza &
Board Wok are good but I am hoping for something
new. I still miss the Boathouse rest. that

places to eat on Hatteras Island?
Hi! We're coming to the OBX in a couple
of weeks for the first time. We'll be staying
in about the middle of Hatteras Island,
and we don't want to cook on vacation! So,

in Salvo?
We usually stay up in Coralla, and this
year we are staying in Salvo. Everybody
says it is very nice, dies it have any similarities
to Coralla. I loved Timbuck II, is there
anything like that?And what about crabbin
down in Salvo, we would go to the Whalehead

stay in Avon
Just wanted to say our family vacationed
in Avon last week and had a wonderful time.
I had checked the message board many times
for info before our trip. I found all info
both helpful and correct. We booked through
Hatteras Realty and had great service. With
kids we didn't venture far from the pool
or beach. Shopped at Food Lion and smaller
grocery retailers and found prices to be
ok. Gas prices seemed to also be average.
All in all we thought it was a beautiful
place for a family vacation. Thanks for
all the helpful info. We are already planning
a trip next year. Read
