Subject: Visiting
Corolla for the first time
My family and I have rented a home in the
Ocean Sands area of Corolla in August. We
have vacationed in the past at Rehobeth
Beach, DE and Ocean City, MD. I know there
is no boardwalk, etc. But what can we expect?
Are the beaches crowded? Is the water rough....I
heard riptides are common? Are the alot
of restaurants? Chain or local? Any info
will be appreciated Read

Subject: Corolla
- too upscale?
My family (of four, two teenage daughters
+dog) have vacationed in Nags Head/Kitty
Hawk a couple of times about 10 years ago.
This year we are staying in Corolla -- just
to be different and possibly not be as crowded.
My husband is worried about it being TOO
upscale, snobby and or "yuppyfied".
Will we be having to go up and down the
coast to go to resturants, shopping? and
if so, how long does it take to travel from
Corolla to Nags Head? Read

Subject: Carova
vs Corolla vs?
We are traveling to the OBX in a month,
renting a couple houses for a family reunion.
Some of us want to stay in Carova, rent
a 4x4, and some are bringing their boat
w/truck and trailer so need to be in town.
Any suggestions? There will be 15 or so
of us, three families (all siblings), 8
young men between the ages of 17 and 25.
Want to get something rented today! Thanks
for your suggestions. Read

Subject: Duck
or Corolla
Looking for a new place to stay this year
(May). We have always vacationed in Hatteras/Frisco
but would like a change of scenery. Which
is a better location, Duck or Corolla? Is
one less-crowded than the other? We don't
eat out much, so just a good local seafood
market and a grocery store is all we need.

Subject: Hatteras
or Duck/Corolla?
Planning a vacation to OBX and am trying
to decide between Hatteras, Avon area or
Duck/Corolla, with oceanfront rental in
either location. From what I understand
Duck/Corolla is newer and more residential
and rentals seem to be more costly. Hatteras
area appears to be less populated, and rentals
less costly. I'm trying to determine the
benefits or drawbacks to each area. A couple
of specific questions I have are:
How long is drive to each area once you
get over bridge?
Is the beach area different in either area
or access to beach from the homes (in things
read on Hatteras rental descriptions don't
mention 'private boardwalk to beach')? Any
and all information would be appreciated.
Thanks for taking the time to respond. Read

I just wanted to take a moment to tell everyone
thank you for all the great advice. We just
got back from a week on the outter banks.
We were in Corolla, Pine Island. I beautiful
house right on the ocean we could not ask
for more. My husband went on a charter and
caught more tuna and Dolphin then we know
what to do with jeje. He had an amazing
time with the guys. Us girls just hung out
and enjoyed the pool and ocean. What more
can you ask for. It is a great place to
connec with the family. And the blue crabs
are GREAT! For those who are still counting
your days have a great trip. I only wish
I cold be there NOW. Read

Subject: The
Perfect Spot
This year will be my first trip to OBX and
I'm looking for something in particular,
but without knowing the different areas,
it's hard to decide where to rent. What
we are looking for is a rental house on
the beach. We want to stay in an area that
is not overly crowded, but not completely
empty either. We want the seclusion, but
we also would like to be within a few minutes
of restaurants, shopping, groceries, fishing,
etc. The Corolla area seems like what we
are looking for, but I don't know for sure.
I also found some places in Carova, but
I don't really know where that is. I would
love to get some advice from you! Thanks!!
